Open the inventory item list in EBMS by selecting Inventory Items from the main Inventory menu. Select Edit > New from the main menu to start the new inventory wizard.

Highlight the folder in which you want to place the new inventory item and click Next.

Enter a general Description of the special order item. This description should describe the group but does not need to be detailed since the sales order description will describe each individual item within the group. Click the Next button to continue to the Information page.

Change the Classification to Special Orders. The special order module is an optional module and is not present if the Special Order option is not included in the drop-down options.
The Gross Weight value should be kept blank unless all items within this group weigh the same amount.
The storage Location should be left blank unless all special order items reside in the same location.
Toggle the Taxable switch ON if this item is subject to Sales Tax. It is not wise to mix taxable and nontaxable special order items within the same inventory code. Create multiple codes if necessary so the taxable switch is consistent for all items within this special orders group. Click the Next button to continue.

The Cost, Margin/Markup, and Base Price values are not valid when an item is classified as Special Orders. All special order prices are driven from original cost of each selected item rather then the Base Price value.
The Formula column will be used only if the special order item is selected within the sales order after the cost is entered in the purchase order. Retype the inventory code and click OK on the special order selection dialog to recalculate the sale price from the purchase price using the price Formula within the pricing tab. Click the Next button to continue.

Enter the Inventory ID that identifies the special order part. For example, the special order item used to record Ford parts could be coded as SO-FORD. See the EBMS Features > Creating and Editing IDs section for more details. Click Finish to create the new special order inventory item.
